Spirit Island--Estuary Project

This is the first in a new group of work I am calling the Estuary Project. As a plant ecologist who has happened to focus on coastal wetlands for the last 5 years, I happen to spend a decent amount of time in the St. Louis River Estuary. The Estuary can be dead calm or big waves. It has natural beauty and diverse plants and wildlife. It also has remnants from past industry like wooden pilings sticking out of the water, brick foundations with trees growing off of them, or retired piers. My intention is to highlight the natural beauty juxtaposed against those remnants of industry from the perspective of paddling on the water, which is how I get to view it.
